THE SEQUENCER, MAPPED
How projects, songs, patterns, tracks, pages, steps and the audio path fit together. Sequencing only — no sound design.
NOTE TRIG — plays notes
LOCK TRIG — p-locks only, silent

PAGES
16 steps per page · 16 pages max = 256 steps

STEP
A step can hold a note trig or a lock trig — and each trig carries its own payload: notes, velocity, length, micro timing, retrig, a condition, and parameter locks. See 04.
02THE FOUR TRACK TYPES
AUDIO · TRK 1–8
  • Holds a preset: SRC machine + FLTR, AMP, FX, MOD pages
  • 2 insert-FX slots
  • 3 send levels → Send FX 1–3
  • 2 voice LFOs, mod env, 2 FX LFOs
  • Assign a MIDI machine → becomes a MIDI track (16 notes/step, 16 CCs)
BUS · TRK 9–12
  • Group channel: route any tracks into it, process them together
  • 2 insert-FX slots + 3 send levels
  • 2 LFOs
  • Can simultaneously act as a MIDI track
SEND FX · TRK 13–15
  • One FX machine each = the pattern's three send effects
  • Fed by the send levels of tracks & buses
  • 2 LFOs modulate the FX
  • Sequenceable — p-lock the effect per step
MIX · TRK 16
  • The mixer as a track: all track levels, external input settings
  • Hosts the MAIN FX machine on the master path
  • 2 LFOs modulate the main FX
  • Levels & main FX are p-lockable like anything else
03PAGES, STEPS & THE PLAYHEAD one track's timeline — the [TRIG] keys always show one page at a time
STEP 1▼ playhead runs across all used pages at the set tempoSTEP 16
SELECT PAGE
[PAGE] cycles pages. Hold [PAGE] + [UP] → SELECT PAGE, then [TRIG 1–16] jumps straight to a page.
LOOP PAGES
Hold [PAGE] + [DOWN] → LOOP PAGES, then pick pages with [TRIG 1–16]: only those pages play & loop. [PAGE]+[NO] resumes all.
EXTENDING
Growing a pattern auto-copies existing trigs onto the new pages — 2 pages grown to 4 = two copies.
04ANATOMY OF A TRIG every step is a container — hold its [TRIG] key to edit the payload
NOTE TRIG
Plays the preset (or sends MIDI notes). Added with a [TRIG] key in GRID RECORDING.
LOCK TRIG
Plays no note — it silently applies parameter locks. A pure automation point. Added with [FUNC]+[TRIG].
NOTE(S)
Pitch(es) to play — add more per step via STEP EDIT; MIDI tracks take up to 16 notes per step
VELOCITY
Per-step hit strength
LENGTH
Note duration, independent of the step grid
µ TIMING
Nudge ahead of / behind the beat — hold trig + [LEFT]/[RIGHT]. Stored per pattern
RETRIG
Ratchet the step: rate, length, velocity curve (hold trig → TRIG PAGE 1)
CONDITION
A rule deciding whether the trig fires — see 06
P-LOCKS ◆
Per-step overrides of any PARAMETER-page value — see 05
05PARAMETER LOCKS every step can carry its own value for any parameter — the track default applies everywhere else
EXAMPLE — FILTER FREQ ACROSS ONE PAGE (dashed line = track default; bars = locked values)
ADD (GRID REC)
Hold a [TRIG] + turn a DATA ENTRY knob. Display inverts; the trig key blinks red (note) or yellow (lock).
ADD (LIVE REC)
Turn knobs while recording — moves are captured as p-locks, and lock trigs are placed on empty steps automatically.
REMOVE
Hold trig + press the knob to clear one lock. Remove & re-enter the trig to wipe them all.
Works on all track types — including buses, send FX and the mix track. Even the sample/wavetable slot can be locked per step. Holding a locked trig makes the [PARAMETER PAGE] key with the lock blink.
06TRIG CONDITIONS & FILL conditional locks: rules on the COND parameter (TRIG PAGE 1) — overline = negation
1–99%
Probability — that chance of playing, each pass
FILL
Plays only while FILL mode is active
FILL
Plays only while FILL mode is not active
PRE
Plays if the previously evaluated trig on this track played
PRE
Plays if the previously evaluated trig did not play
NEI
Plays if the last condition on the neighbor track (one below: trk 3 for trk 4) was met
NEI
…if it was not met. No conditional trigs on the neighbor → never plays
1ST
Plays only on the first loop of the pattern
1ST
Plays on every loop except the first
A:B
Plays on pass A of every B passes (of pattern — or track, if shorter)
A:B
Plays on every pass except pass A of B
A:B EXAMPLE — 2:4 OVER 8 LOOPS
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
8
Plays pass 2, then every 4th pass after. PRE/PRE chains skip other PRE trigs when evaluating.
FILL MODE
A performance switch that flips all FILL / FILL trigs — e.g. a drum fill wired into the same track as the main groove.
MOMENTARY

LATCHING
[FILL] toggles on/off

PER PATTERN
All tracks share one LENGTH (up to 256 steps) and one SCALE.
PER TRACK
Each track gets its own LEN + SCL → polymeter & polyrhythm. The pattern adds two master values:
CHANGE — steps before a cued/chained pattern takes over.
RESET — steps before all tracks restart together. INF = free-run forever.
SCALE runs 1/8× … 2× the BPM and also scales LFOs, delay times, arp & retrig speed. 2× gives 32nd-note resolution; 3/4× gives triplets against other gear.
PER TRACK MODE — THREE TRACKS DRIFTING AGAINST EACH OTHER
T1 · 16 STEPS ×1
T2 · 12 STEPS ×1
T3 · 16 STEPS ×2
solid = first loop · dashed = re-loops↺ RESET realigns everything (or INF: never)
08SUBTRACKS & THE SUPERTRACK one audio track with the Subtracks SRC machine becomes 8 + 1 sequencer lanes
TRACK 1–8
Assign the SUBTRACKS machine ([FUNC]+[SRC]) and load an instrument of 8 samples. 8-voice: one voice per subtrack.
[SUBTRACKS] keys — select/play
[TRK]+[TRIG] ×2 — supertrack
[FUNC]+[SUBTRACKS] — load sample
MUTE mode mutes per-subtrack
SUPER Extra lane for the shared parameters: FX pages + 2 FX LFOs + its own TRIG page — p-lock what affects all subtracks at once
ST 1 · KICKown sample · SRC FLTR AMP MOD · own trigsA
ST 2 · SNRown sample · SRC FLTR AMP MOD · own trigsA
ST 3 · HAT○own sample · SRC FLTR AMP MOD · own trigsB
ST 4 · HAT●own sample · SRC FLTR AMP MOD · own trigsB
ST 5–8 …each its own lane on the grid
A / B badges = choke groups: triggering one subtrack instantly silences the others in its group (open hat ↔ closed hat). Copy/paste moves all 8 lanes + supertrack together in STEP EDIT.
